Jobs In Drilling

Many people have considered obtaining drilling jobs, either in the oil or gas industries. It is true that you can earn good money with drilling jobs but it is extremely hard work and not for the feint hearted.

Typically on a marine rig the first of the entry level drilling jobs you’ll come across is the position of painter or cleaner. This is an all weather outdoor job. You’d be responsible for painting and cleaning the rig predominantly to prevent rust.

Once you’ve been promoted from a lease hand your next position would be as a floor hand/roughneck. This is one of the most physical of the various drilling jobs. You’d be responsible for connecting and disconnecting pipes, collecting core samples etc.

Whether you start out as a painter or a roustabout when it comes to drilling jobs the sky’s the limit! There is plenty of money to be made in the oil and gas industries if you’re willing to work hard.

The work is hard physical labour, it is no place for people who are afraid of getting their hands dirty. That said, it is an honest way to earn a living. And there are few honest jobs that pay as well as drilling jobs.

Oil Employment : Where Are the Offshore Drilling Jobs?

Every oil company is trying to gear up their production. Unfortunately, everyone is facing a critical worker shortage due to an aging workforce. Considering the intense work schedule on most offshore drilling jobs - 12 hours a day for 14 days, many of these workers are a bit too old to maintain the same punishing pace of work.

Thousands of offshore drilling jobs are in the Gulf Coast areas, the main oil producer in the US today. Oil employment requires very physically fit workers, independent, and able to handle being away from their families for extended periods.

Oil rig job salaries are high and benefits are excellent. This means that competition for unskilled positions can be high. You need to show some familiarity with offshore drilling jobs in your cover letter and resume. In short, you need to do some reading up before you start looking for offshore drilling jobs.

Having the right contacts and being known by the right people is the most important factor to get offshore drilling jobs. UK residents are probably better off if they look for jobs in the US and Canada.

Offshore Accounts

You’ve probably seen some sort of mob movie or some news where a criminal has stored money in an offshore account. You may even associate an offshore account as being something that only the rich own because they are trying to evade taxes or they just want to show off how fancy their life is. Whatever the reason for offshore account, they are not always for criminal activity.

By having an offshore account, an individual usually pretends that their money does not exist. It is not in a domestic bank account, so they don’t really have to think about it until tax time rolls around. Tax evasion is what we tend to hear about in the news next to drug dealers using offshore account.

An offshore account is not just for criminals. We only hear about criminals using an offshore account because the news networks aren’t going to do a story on someone who has opened one of those accounts for honest reasons.

There are some companies within Western countries have found that having money in an offshore account proves beneficial to them. That means that not all of their money is in one place, but in some places that they can keep track of it.

That explains why companies choose to go with offshore account. That also keeps the account secret and out of the way of anyone who would try to steal from them. In other words, a company investing its money in an offshore account is a company that will have a cushion to fall back on in case something happens to their domestic accounts.

So now you see the benefits of having your own offshore account. Companies and tons of individuals do it, and the criminals also do it. But remember that not everyone is a criminal and criminals only make up a very small percentage of those who open an offshore account. Think of having an offshore account as a great way for you to save for your future.
